Video of Tinga's Interview After Winning at the Blissett Classic

Helping at a Time of Need

Friends,

If you are visiting this site based on a referral, the chances are you are here because your know something about the tragedy that has befallen Tinga Turner and his family.

One March 31st, 2007, Tinga was at home watching television at about 9:00pm when he smelt a rubber burning. He went outside only to see a fire jumping from the electric line to his neighbour's apartment. They attempted to out the flame with water, to no avail,

Within less than a minute, all his possessions were aflame, including the cycling gear pictured in the video on this site. All that was saved were the clothes he was wearing, and his bicycle which was fortunately stored next door.

Also lost were 40+ trophies, cops and awards received from around the world in races that he has competed in.

In addition, his girlfriend's and brother's possessions were also completey destroyed.

According to Tinga, the worst part was reliving the whole episode on the news the following night, and seeing his apartment burned to the ground.

How You Can Help

Tinga's first answer when asked "what do you need?" is "Everything."

After pressing him for more details, we developed the following list of the most urgent items:

-- cash (he is looking for a new apartment as we speak)
-- clothes (he wears a size 30 waist and 32 length, medium)
-- appliances (he lost a fridge, stove, microwave, tv)
-- furniture for 4 apartments (bed, dresser, table, etc.)
-- dried food stuff

The Cutters Cycling Club is putting together a collection of items to pass on to Tinga, and our website can be viewed at http://cuttersja.blogspot.com
